What does your business actually need from AI? Take the 1-minute check

Every week another Irish business owner is told they "need AI". Hardly anyone tells them what for. A plumber in Naas, a dental practice in Galway and a letting agent in Cork all have different problems, and one tool won't fix all three.

Most businesses don't need an AI strategy. They need one or two jobs taken off their plate.

Start with the job, not the technology

A good AI consultant doesn't start with the tool. They start with where your time and money leak away. Ask yourself:

  • Which tasks eat your week but don't need your judgement?
  • Where do customers wait on you: calls, messages, emails?
  • What gets typed out twice?

The answers usually point to one of five places.

Five places Irish businesses actually see a return

1. Phone calls

Missed calls are the most common leak we see. When you're on a job, with a client or closed for the evening, the caller rings the next business on Google. A receptionist that answers every call, books appointments and sends you a summary pays for itself quickly. See how our call answering works.

2. WhatsApp

Customers expect quick replies, but you can't sit on your phone all day. Common questions, bookings and even voice notes can be answered straight away, with the tricky ones passed to you.

3. Website enquiries

A contact form that sits unread until Monday loses leads over the weekend. Enquiries can be answered, qualified and booked in while they're still keen.

4. Admin automation

Intake forms, data entry, quotes, scheduling, follow ups and reports. These are repetitive, rule-based jobs, so they're the easiest to automate and the hardest for staff to enjoy. We wrote more about custom intake forms that fill in your systems for you.

5. Advice

Sometimes you just need someone to look at how the business runs and say what's worth doing, and what isn't.

Not sure which of these fits you?

What a good consultant should ask you

Before recommending anything, an AI consultant should know:

  • roughly how many calls and messages you get a month, and how many go unanswered
  • when you're hardest to reach
  • what software you already use, so anything new connects to it rather than adding another login
  • what a new customer is worth to you

If someone pitches a solution before asking these, be careful.

When you probably don't need it yet

If you answer every call, reply to every message the same day and your admin takes an hour a week, you're doing fine. AI earns its keep where volume is high and time is short. It isn't something every business needs.

We built a short questionnaire that asks the questions above. Tap through a few answers about your business and you'll get a tailored recommendation on screen. There are no sales calls unless you ask for one.
